This process uses a rotating cutter to machine away text or an image into most materials. The cutter is computer controlled for speed, accuracy and repeatability. When used with 2 colour multi-layer engraving sheet, the top layer is cut away thus exposing the colour underneath.
Most metals such as aluminium, brass, steel and stainless steel can be rotary engraved. The depth of cut can be selected so that the image can be paint filled. The software used allows an image drawn with a Computer Drafting program to be rotary engraved. This is useful when custom shape text or specific cut-outs are required.
When a diamond point is fitted to the machine and the rotary cutter action disabled, the diamond drag line is produced. This is a quick and permanent way to mark identification numbers on parts or to complete serial number plates.
