Sublimation is a process where ink is transferred from paper, under the effects of heat and pressure, onto a base material. The paper, ink and base material all have special properties that allow the sublimation process to work.
There is a range of base materials that can be sublimation printed and we mainly use specially coloured and treated 0.5mm aluminium sheet. Once printed, the aluminium sheet is cut to size, holes drilled as required and usually thin fixing tape is applied to the back.
Sublimation is a full colour process that can be suited to small production runs and especially if the artwork (such as a serial number) changes for each item.
Screen printing is usually best suited to larger production runs where the cost of producing the screen can be spread over the total quantity produced.
In some cases a combination of sublimation or screenprinting then lasering will provide the best solution to achieve the desired result.
